It was just supposed to answer the question someone had about having to install and keep RS's Social Club program to play their games. This was not supposed to be a rant or rave. I have no interest in this personally but others do.īy the way. Now logging just allows Social Club to track of your gameplay progress, achievements, singleplayer and multiplayer stats, and any crew or friend affiliations so you can share them with other members if you want to.
The older information I had read still required you to log in even for singleplayer gaming. But the Social Club program still runs in the background. The fact that they make installing it mandatory even if you won't be using it past activating your game, and then threaten to kill your game, or games, if you "unsubscribe" from it or uninstall it is what is really agrivating about it.ĭuring my research I found out they changed some things for singleplayer a while back so you can play the singleplayer game mode without logging into the main club. It's not the most invasive of DRM out there but it is bloody annoying to have to log into programs you don't even use or participate in to play a game. If it is simply a manner of frustration with DRM, then this is not the most invasive form by any means. I have spent plenty of hours playing the game, and have not spent any time interacting in the Social Club. I guess I do not see what the big deal is here.
